School Supplies Collection & Distribution
Each year the Friday before Kingsport City Schools start, grade-appropriate school supplies are given to children in the Gibsontown community.
This ministry is to assist those who have financial hardships and attend school in the city of Kingsport.
Our usual schedule for distribution day is:
1:00 pm - 3:00 pm to those who have pre-registered.
3:00 pm the remaining bags will be available on a first come basis.
First Baptist Church coordinates these efforts and teams up with other area churches and individuals to provide school supplies for children to start the school year.

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS and GUARDIANS:
REGISTRATION ENDS AT 5 PM (Date to be announced). The form must be completed by a parent or guardian to register a child(ren) to receive grade appropriate school supplies. This ministry is for those who have a financial hardship and live within the city limits of Kingsport OR involved at Gibsontown Ministries. You must pick up your child(ren's) package of supplies at Gibsontown Ministries between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm, Friday before school starts. Photo identification will be required for pickup. Packages left after 3:00 pm will be given on a first come first served basis. We reserve the right to end registration before the noted date. If you need assistance, please call 423-765-2950.
INFORMATION FOR CONTRIBUTORS and CHURCHES:
Would you prayerfully consider helping students start back to school with their necessary supplies? Would you encourage your church to participate?
We are asking for ONLY the following items (Sample list:):
- No. 2 Pencils (not mechanical) 12 per student
- Colored Pencils - 12 count
- Plastic Pencil School Boxes for crayons and pencils (for K-2)
- Pencil Pouches (for 3rd - 5th graders)
- Regular Composition Books (BOUND not spiral)
- 2 inch - 3 ring binders (Only this size needed)
- Wide-ruled notebook paper
- Dividers
- Tissues (one box per student)
- Glue Sticks (4-6 per K - 5 student)
- Crayons (with 24 crayons in box)
Please bring the supplies to First Baptist Church (Kingsport), Fellowship Hall
If you would rather make a financial contribution toward the purchase of supplies,
please write your check
to First Baptist Church and memo "School Supplies".
VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED:
- TO ASSIST WITH PACKING BAGS on date tba AT FIRST BAPTIST, KINGSPORT
- DISTRIBUTION ON FRIDAY before school starts AT GIBSONTOWN MINISTRIES, 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM (Volunteers should arrive by 12:30.)
